Medical laser hair removal uses light energy that selectively targets the melanin in the hair. This energy is converted into heat and reaches the follicle, where it disables the structures responsible for hair growth without damaging the skin.
Because hair grows in cycles, the laser only acts on follicles that are in the active growth phase. For this reason, several sessions are needed to treat the hair progressively and achieve long-lasting reduction.

For safety reasons, there are situations in which treatment is not started or should be postponed, for example:
Before starting, we carry out an assessment to confirm that the treatment is suitable for you and to answer any questions with peace of mind.
It depends on the area, hair type and skin phototype. During the assessment, we will provide a guideline range and the recommended interval.
Sessions are normally spaced several weeks apart to respect the hair cycle and allow the skin to recover; this is adjusted according to the area and your individual response.
Laser hair removal can achieve progressive, long-lasting hair reduction in many patients. However, it is not considered a fully “permanent” procedure in absolute terms, as hormonal factors, hair type and the treated area can all influence the outcome.
After completing the initial protocol, some people may require occasional maintenance sessions to preserve the result over the long term.
The sensation varies. Many people tolerate it very well, and the cooling system helps improve comfort. We adjust the settings if an area is particularly sensitive.

Dr. Manuela Gheorghiu is a specialist in Aesthetic Medicine, founder and Medical Director of Clínica Provença, a medical aesthetic clinic in Barcelona. She combines her clinical practice with university teaching and advanced medical training, staying continuously up to date to offer evidence-based, safe and effective treatments.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery with highest honours from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. Her medical degree is officially recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Health, allowing her to practise as a licensed physician in Spain since 2018. Her specialist training in Aesthetic Medicine was completed in Spain, where she obtained her postgraduate qualification from the University of Córdoba.
