You may notice it when you look in daylight: your skin feels drier and less radiant, and your usual moisturiser no longer seems to do enough. You are not doing anything wrong. Over time, the skin gradually loses some of its ability to retain water — and that capacity can be restored.
Skinboosters replenish the hyaluronic acid that helps keep the dermis hydrated from within. When they are the right treatment for your skin, they work well. When what you see has a different cause, we explain this during your assessment and recommend the appropriate approach.

A skinbooster is a lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid: a fluid gel placed within the dermis through very superficial microinjections. Unlike the hyaluronic acid used in dermal fillers, it is not designed to shape the face or add volume. It integrates into the skin and performs one of hyaluronic acid’s natural functions: attracting and retaining water.
This sustained hydration changes how the skin behaves. It improves texture, elasticity and tone, while softening the fine lines that become more visible when the skin is dehydrated. The effect develops progressively over the weeks following each session as the skin becomes better hydrated from within.
It is equally important to explain what a skinbooster does not do. It does not fill folds, restore lost volume or correct established skin laxity. When your skin needs one of those things, this is not the right treatment — and during your assessment, we explain what is.
A session takes around 30 minutes. We apply numbing cream, the doctor performs the microinjections, and you can return to your usual routine afterwards. Small raised marks or mild redness at the injection points may remain for 24–72 hours; they are a normal part of the process and settle on their own.
Skinboosters are most appropriate when the concern lies in skin quality rather than facial structure. They may be a good option when you recognise one or more of the following:
There are also situations in which skinboosters are not the answer, even when they may initially appear to be. If your main concern is deeper wrinkles visible at rest, or loss of volume in the cheeks or under-eye area, the cause lies in deeper layers. The appropriate treatment may instead involve hyaluronic acid filler to restore support where it has been lost, or a specific treatment for expression lines.
When the concern is skin laxity — a less defined facial contour or sagging — the discussion usually turns to collagen-stimulating treatments.
Distinguishing between these situations is exactly what we do during your assessment: sometimes dull skin is the underlying concern; at other times, it is only the visible sign of an issue that requires a different treatment.

The improvement becomes noticeable within the first few weeks and develops further once the initial treatment course is complete. The effect is intentionally subtle: you look well, not different.
We listen to what concerns you and what you expect from treatment. We assess your skin — hydration, thickness, texture and elasticity — and identify what is causing the changes you see. Sometimes the issue is skin quality; in other cases, it lies in the underlying structure, and the recommended treatment changes completely.
We give you a reasoned medical recommendation: what is appropriate for your case, what is not, and why. Sometimes the answer is another technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.
You leave with a clear treatment plan and quotation, and decide afterwards, without pressure.

The starting material is the same — hyaluronic acid — but the formulation and purpose are different.
The hyaluronic acid used in dermal fillers is a denser gel designed to provide support and restore volume where it has been lost, such as the cheeks, a hollow under-eye area or a facial fold.
The hyaluronic acid used in skinboosters is fluid and integrates into the skin without shaping it. Its purpose is to hydrate and improve tissue quality. A skinbooster therefore cannot replace a dermal filler, and a filler cannot replace a skinbooster. When you are unsure which treatment is appropriate, this is one of the questions we resolve during your assessment.
Both treatments hydrate the skin, but they work differently. A skinbooster distributes hyaluronic acid throughout the treatment area, with hydration and improved texture as its main effects.
Profhilo uses a high concentration of hyaluronic acid that diffuses from a small number of injection points and also has a bioremodelling effect on tissue firmness. It is therefore often considered when early skin laxity is present alongside dryness.
For younger, dehydrated skin, a skinbooster is often sufficient. When the skin is beginning to lose firmness, Profhilo may be more appropriate.
During your assessment, we determine which option is better suited to your skin — or whether a phased combination would be beneficial.
The techniques are similar in that both target skin quality, but their formulations and effects are not the same. Facial mesotherapy delivers a blend of vitamins and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid for a revitalising effect.
A skinbooster uses stabilised hyaluronic acid that remains within the dermis for longer, continuously retaining water.
They are complementary rather than interchangeable treatments. The choice depends on the condition of your skin and how sustained an improvement you are seeking.
When dehydration and impaired skin quality are the real concerns, the improvement is noticeable — in how the skin feels, its radiance and the way make-up sits.
When the underlying issue is different — loss of volume, skin laxity or expression lines — a skinbooster will fall short. This is the source of many disappointing experiences people describe: the product did not fail; the indication was incorrect.
That’s why your consultation isn’t just a formality. It’s where we decide whether this treatment is right for you—or whether your case calls for a different approach.
With the right product and technique, a skinbooster integrates into the skin without leaving lasting raised areas. The small bumps that may be visible for the first 24–72 hours are part of the normal process and settle on their own.
Persistent irregularities occasionally described are usually associated with excessive product or treatment of areas that did not require it. Our approach is straightforward: a dose adapted to what your skin can accommodate, with sessions spaced far enough apart to assess its response before proceeding.
A typical initial course consists of two or three sessions several weeks apart, followed by more widely spaced maintenance sessions to preserve the result.
The exact frequency depends on your skin, age and lifestyle factors — including sun exposure, smoking and exercise — so we define your individual protocol during the assessment.
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin. The skinboosters we use are CE-marked medical devices that are biodegradable and non-permanent.
The usual effects after treatment are generally mild and temporary: some redness, small injection marks, or occasional bruising at the injection sites. We don’t perform this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding. During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history to make sure there are no contraindications in your case.
