You may have noticed it when looking in the mirror: the skin on your face appears less firm and less radiant, even though you care for it as you always have. It is not simply a matter of skincare. Over time, the collagen and elastin that support the skin gradually decline.
When the underlying issue is skin quality, there is a non-surgical medical option. During your assessment, we examine your individual case and explain, with clinical judgement, whether this treatment is right for you or whether your skin would benefit from a different approach.

Profhilo is a highly concentrated injectable gel made from ultra-pure hyaluronic acid. It combines high- and low-molecular-weight chains bonded through a thermal process, without chemical cross-linking agents. This hybrid structure gives it a distinctive fluidity: rather than remaining where it is injected, it spreads evenly beneath the skin.
It acts on tissue quality. On the one hand, it provides deep hydration from the outset. On the other, it stimulates your own production of collagen and elastin—the fibres responsible for skin firmness and elasticity, which decline over time. This dual action is known as bioremodelling: the skin is not filled; its structure is reorganised and its density improves.
It is important to distinguish Profhilo from other treatments with which it is often confused. It is not a filler: it does not add volume or redefine facial contours. Nor is it vitamin mesotherapy, which works at a more superficial level and has a different purpose. It also does not correct deep wrinkles or established sagging; other options are better suited to those concerns, and we will tell you clearly if that is your case.
The session is brief. We inject the product at five points on each side of the face using the BAP technique, which is designed to distribute it evenly with the fewest possible injections. Each injection feels like a brief pinprick. Small raised areas may remain at the injection points afterwards, but they usually settle within a few hours.
You can return to your normal routine the same day, following the simple aftercare advice we explain during your appointment. Hydration is often noticeable early on, while firmness develops gradually as your skin produces new collagen. A full course usually consists of two sessions around four weeks apart, with the result becoming more established after the second treatment.
This treatment may be suitable when your main concern is skin quality: the skin feels less firm or elastic, looks dull or dehydrated despite good skincare, or shows early signs of laxity—that slight sense that the skin is beginning to give, without visible sagging. This is common between the ages of 35 and 60, and it can also be an appropriate first medical treatment for someone who wants to improve their skin without changing their face.
There are situations in which Profhilo is not the right answer, and identifying this early can save you unnecessary expense and disappointment. If the underlying issue is volume loss—such as cheeks that have lost projection or folds that have become more noticeable—a well-indicated hyaluronic acid filler may be more appropriate. If the skin has already sagged visibly, we are dealing with established laxity and will assess other options. Expression lines also require a different approach.

The result develops gradually and is usually clearly visible four to six weeks after the second session. It typically lasts for around six months, although this varies according to your skin and lifestyle.
Where worthwhile, we plan maintenance at a frequency that makes sense for your case—never earlier or more often than necessary.
First, we listen to what concerns you and what you would like to achieve.
We then assess what is causing what you see: whether it is related to skin quality—hydration, elasticity and density—or to the underlying support provided by facial volume and structure. This distinction is what leads to the correct treatment indication.
We then give you a reasoned recommendation: what is appropriate for your case, what is not, and why. Sometimes the answer is a different technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.

The answer depends on choosing the right indication. When the issue is skin quality, the change is noticeable in the way the skin feels, its elasticity and its radiance. The result is deliberately subtle, but it is real.
When the underlying problem is volume loss or reduced support, however, Profhilo can be disappointing, regardless of the quality of the product or technique. This is why selecting the right treatment matters as much as the product itself: it prevents you from investing in something that will not address your concern.
The product is not designed to add volume and, when injected at the correct depth, it does not alter the shape of the face. Mild swelling may appear at the injection points during the first few days, but it settles on its own.
Injection depth and technique matter: they are what separate a clean, natural result from effects you do not want. This is one of the reasons why Profhilo should be administered by a medical professional.
Hydration is often noticeable within the first few days. Firmness and elasticity improve progressively, with the full result usually visible four to six weeks after the second session.
The result typically lasts around six months, although this varies according to the skin, age and lifestyle. During your assessment, we explain what you can realistically expect in your case and, should you decide to continue, the most appropriate maintenance schedule.
Profhilo is a CE-marked medical device made from biocompatible, resorbable hyaluronic acid, which the body naturally breaks down. The usual side effects are mild and temporary: a brief pinprick at each injection point, small raised areas that settle within a few hours and, occasionally, mild redness or a small bruise.
It is not suitable when there is an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area. During your assessment, we review your medical history so that treatment can be planned safely.
The molecule is the same, but its function is different. A filler is a cross-linked gel placed at specific points to restore volume or define a contour: it acts on facial structure.
Profhilo uses a fluid form of hyaluronic acid that spreads through the tissue to improve skin quality: hydration, firmness and elasticity. One sculpts; the other bioremodels. They are not competing treatments, and in some cases they can be combined, each serving a different purpose within the same treatment plan.
Profhilo Structura belongs to the same product family but has a different indication. It acts at a deeper level, within the superficial fat layer, to provide support where facial contours are beginning to descend.
Classic Profhilo improves skin quality; Structura targets its support. Which option is appropriate—or whether it makes sense to combine them in stages—depends on your anatomy and the cause of the changes you see. That is precisely what we determine during your assessment.
Profhilo stimulates collagen, but it is not a conventional collagen biostimulator. Treatments such as Sculptra use substances that trigger a more intense and prolonged collagen response, designed to improve density and provide support over a period of several months.
Profhilo works with hyaluronic acid: its stimulation is gentler and is accompanied by deep hydration from the first day. They are different tools for different degrees of firmness loss and may sometimes be used sequentially within the same treatment plan.
