Soften the lines that run from the nose to the mouth, without erasing your expression or undergoing surgery.
You may notice them more in photos or under certain lighting: two lines that once appeared only when you smiled and are now visible at rest. Nasolabial folds can be treated medically without surgery.
The key is not simply to fill them, but to understand why they have become more pronounced on your face — because that determines whether the result will look natural.
We provide guidance based on medical expertise.
The nasolabial fold is the crease that runs from the side of the nose towards the corner of the mouth. Everyone has one: it is an anatomical boundary between the cheek and the lip area. What changes over time is its depth, influenced by several factors at once — midface support, the cheek fat compartments, skin quality and the dynamics of your smile.
That is why nasolabial fold filler treatment begins with one question: what is causing your fold? If the main concern is the crease itself, it can be treated directly with hyaluronic acid filler, placed in the appropriate anatomical plane so that it integrates smoothly without creating irregularities.
If the underlying cause is subtle cheek descent, filling only the fold is likely to produce a limited, short-lived result. In these cases, restoring midface support is often more appropriate, and the nasolabial fold may improve with little or no direct filler. Frequently, the best answer combines both approaches in proportions determined by your anatomy.
What this treatment is not: it is not about erasing the fold. Removing it completely can flatten the centre of the face and alter your expression — precisely the effect we want to avoid. The aim is to soften it so that it is no longer the first feature you notice.
The procedure is performed in clinic, takes around 30 to 45 minutes and does not require time away from your normal routine. Mild swelling or occasional bruising may occur during the first few days. The result is visible immediately and continues to settle over approximately two weeks as the filler fully integrates.
This treatment is often suitable when your nasolabial folds have gradually become more pronounced and you want to look more rested, not different. It may also be appropriate if you have had filler elsewhere but the result did not last or did not feel right: this often happens when the line was filled without addressing its underlying cause, which can be corrected with a different approach.
There are cases in which filler is not the right technique. If the fold is mainly caused by generalised skin laxity, adding volume may create heaviness rather than improvement. In that situation, we first consider treatments that address tissue quality and firmness, such as collagen stimulators.
And if you expect the fold to disappear completely, we will explain this clearly during your consultation: that result cannot be achieved without altering facial expression, and it is not an approach we use.
For precautionary reasons, treatment is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

A smoother transition between the cheek and the lip area: the fold remains — as it does on every face — but casts less shadow and no longer makes the expression look harsh. The face appears more rested without anyone being able to identify exactly what has changed.
When the treatment plan includes the midface, it also restores support that the cheek has gradually lost. This improves the overall appearance: not only the fold itself, but also the way light falls across the cheek.
Hyaluronic acid filler in this area typically lasts around 12 to 18 months, depending on the product used, your metabolism and the mobility of the area. During your consultation, we will explain the realistic range for your individual case and how to space maintenance treatments to preserve the result without accumulating product.

We listen to what concerns you and what you expect from treatment. We assess the origin of your nasolabial fold: bone support and cheek position, the cheek fat compartments, skin quality and how the area behaves when you smile — because treating a fold without understanding its cause means treating blindly.
We then give you a medically reasoned recommendation: what is suitable for your case, what is not, and why. Sometimes the right answer is a different technique; sometimes, no treatment at all. You leave with a clear treatment plan and quotation, and decide afterwards, without pressure.

People may notice that you look better; they should not be able to tell why. We use conservative amounts, place the filler in the correct anatomical plane and preserve the degree of fold that naturally belongs to your face. Overcorrection — the flattened midface or overfilled cheeks you may have seen — is the result of treating without a proper assessment, and is exactly what this approach is designed to avoid.
If at any point we must choose between greater correction and greater discretion, we choose discretion: more can always be added, whereas removing excess filler is more complex.
It depends on what is causing your fold, and that is precisely what we determine during the consultation. If the crease itself is the main concern, it can be treated directly. If it is caused by midface descent, restoring cheek support improves the fold at its origin and usually produces a more balanced, longer-lasting result.
Often, the most appropriate solution combines small amounts in both areas. Your anatomy determines the plan.
As a general guide, the result lasts around 12 to 18 months. When it lasts much less, the issue is often the indication: filler may have been placed superficially when deeper structural support was needed, or an insufficient amount may have been distributed in the wrong areas.
The nasolabial area is highly mobile — we speak, eat and smile — and this can also accelerate filler breakdown. For this reason, we select products with the appropriate cohesivity for moving tissue. During your consultation, we will give you an honest expectation for your case rather than quoting the maximum duration stated in a product leaflet.
The hyaluronic acid filler we use is resorbable, biocompatible and medical grade. The most common side effects are mild and temporary, such as swelling, redness or a small bruise that resolves within a few days. Minor irregularities felt during the first few days usually reflect filler that has not yet fully integrated and generally settle on their own.
The treatment is generally well tolerated, and the filler contains a local anaesthetic. You can leave the clinic and continue with your day. However, visible bruising may occasionally last for several days, so if you have an important event, we recommend allowing one to two weeks beforehand for peace of mind.
The amount is determined during your consultation. As a general reference, small quantities are usually used in this area, and two moderate sessions are often preferable to one excessive treatment: the tissue adapts better and the result can be controlled more precisely. Be cautious of fixed vial recommendations made before an aesthetic doctor has assessed your face.
This can happen, and it is one of the reasons why assessment comes first. When loss of skin firmness is the main component, filler offers limited benefit and may add heaviness. In these cases, collagen stimulators or other treatments aimed at improving tissue quality are often more appropriate, either alone or as a first step. If this applies to you, we will explain it clearly and recommend the most suitable alternative.
