Facial harmonization with hyaluronic acid in Barcelona. Personalized medical treatment to improve facial balance with natural-looking results.
Facial harmonization is a comprehensive medical approach to the face that uses hyaluronic acid fillers to restore facial balance affected by ageing, loss of structural support, or specific anatomical features.
Unlike focal treatments, facial harmonization does not target a single area. Instead, it assesses the face as a whole, considering proportions, support structures and the relationship between the different facial thirds. The goal is to enhance overall facial harmony rather than simply filling isolated areas.
A global approach to the face, not an isolated treatment
During the consultation, we carefully assess facial anatomy, skin quality and age-related changes. Based on this evaluation, we determine which areas require treatment and to what extent, always prioritising natural results and avoiding overcorrection.

Hyaluronic acid is the material of choice in facial harmonization due to its biocompatibility, safety and versatility, allowing it to be adapted to the specific needs of each facial area. In addition, it is a resorbable, non-permanent product, which enables results to be adjusted and maintained in a gradual and controlled manner.
At Clínica Provença in Barcelona, facial harmonization is performed following an individual medical assessment, with precise planning of the areas to be treated in order to achieve natural, well-balanced results that are consistent with your facial features, without surgery and in accordance with the highest safety standards.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body, particularly in the skin, joints and connective tissues. From a biochemical perspective, it is a polysaccharide with a high capacity to attract and retain water, which is essential for maintaining tissue hydration, elasticity and volume.
In aesthetic medicine, hyaluronic acid is used for its biocompatibility and its ability to integrate progressively into the tissues, allowing for controlled, personalised improvement of skin quality and facial harmony.
As a resorbable and non-permanent substance, it offers a high safety profile and allows for natural results that respect each patient’s anatomy and facial expression.
Dr. Manuela Gheorghiu is a specialist in Aesthetic Medicine, certified by the University of Córdoba, Spain, and Medical Director of Clínica Provença. She combines her clinical practice with university teaching and advanced medical training, allowing her to remain continuously up to date.
Her in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy and the processes involved in ageing allows her to perform a comprehensive medical assessment of the face, which is essential in facial harmonization treatments, where planning by proportions and facial areas is key to achieving balanced results.
Each treatment is individually designed, with an approach focused on achieving natural, harmonious results that are consistent with facial identity, always respecting expression and avoiding overcorrection.
Hyaluronic acid treatment is safe when performed by a qualified physician and using high-quality products. At our clinic, we work exclusively with medical-grade hyaluronic acid fillers from leading international laboratories, such as Juvederm, Restylane or Belotero, which are biocompatible and resorbable, helping to minimise the risk of allergic reactions and providing a high safety profile.
In some cases, mild and temporary side effects may occur, related to the injection itself, such as redness, slight swelling or small bruises in the treated area. These effects usually resolve within a few days.
After the treatment, we provide personalised post-treatment guidelines designed to minimise the likelihood of these effects and, should they occur, to help them resolve as quickly as possible, ensuring a smooth and comfortable recovery.
At our clinic, we do not use permanent fillers such as silicone or implants, as they may be associated with immunological reactions, nodules or long-term deformities. We are committed to safe, non-permanent treatments supported by scientific evidence.
In general, hyaluronic acid treatment is suitable for most people. However, the specific indication and the most appropriate type of treatment are always determined after an individualised medical assessment, taking into account each patient’s characteristics, goals and clinical history.
The treatment is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, not because it has been shown to be unsafe, but because there is insufficient scientific evidence to support its use in these situations. For this reason, and following a principle of medical prudence, we recommend postponing the treatment until this period has ended.
The number of syringes required depends on the areas to be treated, the degree of ageing and the goals of the treatment. This is determined on an individual basis during the consultation.
The duration of the effects of hyaluronic acid facial fillers generally ranges, as a guideline, between 12 and 18 months, as the body gradually resorbs the product over time, although not always completely.
In many cases, depending on the type of hyaluronic acid used, the treated area and the individual characteristics of each patient, the benefits of the treatment may persist beyond 18 months.
In patients who have previously undergone well-indicated and properly performed treatments, it is common to observe a better tissue response and a reduced need for touch-ups, with results remaining more stable over time.
Factors such as age, metabolism and lifestyle may influence the duration of the results.
When the effect begins to diminish, an individualised touch-up or maintenance treatment may be considered, always following a medical assessment, in order to preserve natural and balanced results.
After facial harmonization with hyaluronic acid, patients are able to resume their normal daily activities immediately, without the need for rest or time off work.
During the first 24–48 hours, certain activities should be avoided, such as intense physical exercise, exposure to high heat (saunas or very hot baths), or excessive manipulation of the treated areas, in order to support proper healing and optimal treatment outcomes.
It is normal for mild and temporary effects to occur, such as slight swelling, local sensitivity or small bruises, which typically resolve gradually over the following days.
During the consultation, simple and personalised post-treatment recommendations are provided, tailored to each patient. These are easy-to-follow guidelines that are fully compatible with daily life.
Yes. To achieve more comprehensive and balanced facial rejuvenation, facial harmonization can be combined with other medical aesthetic treatments, always following a personalised medical assessment.
Depending on the diagnosis and each patient’s individual goals, facial harmonization may be combined with treatments for facial laxity, such as non-surgical facial lifting procedures, as well as treatment for expression lines in areas like the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet.
During the consultation, we carry out a detailed assessment of your needs and advise you on the available non-surgical options, planning safe and personalised combinations to achieve comprehensive, natural and harmonious facial rejuvenation.
