There comes a point when your at-home routine can only do so much. You cleanse your face every day and use good products, yet your skin still feels congested: pores look more visible, tone appears less even and the glow never quite returns. It does not mean you are doing anything wrong. Some aspects of skin cleansing can only be addressed professionally, with the right technique and technology.
Our Deep Cleansing Facial combines diamond-tip microdermabrasion with hydrodermabrasion to exfoliate, remove built-up impurities and hydrate the skin in the same session. And because it is performed in a medical clinic, there is an added layer of care behind every treatment: if your skin needs something different, we will identify it and advise you accordingly.
Over time, the skin accumulates more than daily cleansing can remove: excess oil, dead skin cells, pollution particles and product residue. This build-up can clog pores, dull the complexion and make it harder for the skin to absorb the products you apply afterwards.
A Deep Cleansing Facial is a professional treatment designed to address exactly this. At Clínica Provença, we combine two complementary technologies: diamond-tip microdermabrasion, which exfoliates the superficial layer and refines skin texture, and hydrodermabrasion, which cleanses the pores while delivering hydration. Together, they provide a more complete cleanse than either technique alone, and a deeper level of cleansing than at-home skincare can achieve.
It is also important to clarify what this treatment is not. It is not a medical treatment: it does not correct pigmentation, treat established wrinkles or resolve inflammatory acne. It creates a healthier baseline for the skin to function at its best — and can help prepare the skin for other treatments if you need them in the future.
The session begins with an initial cleanse, followed by exfoliation, impurity extraction and a final phase of hydration and protection. It is a comfortable, non-invasive treatment: most patients describe it as pleasant, with only mild, brief discomfort during extraction. You can return to your normal activities immediately afterwards; we simply recommend a few precautions during the first hours, explained below.

If your skin is sensitive or dry, the treatment may still be suitable for you: we adapt the intensity, timing and products to cleanse the skin without unnecessary irritation.
There are situations where a deep cleanse should not be the first step. If you have active inflammatory acne or a rosacea flare-up, the safest approach is to have your skin medically assessed first: treating it while inflamed could aggravate it, and there may be more appropriate options to begin with.
And if your main concern is pigmentation, wrinkles or loss of firmness, a deep cleanse can prepare the skin but will not correct these concerns; during your assessment, we can guide you towards the treatment that is designed to address them.

Your at-home routine is essential, and nothing we do in the clinic replaces it. But they work at different levels. Daily cleansing works mainly on the surface; diamond-tip microdermabrasion and hydrodermabrasion can reach areas that home skincare cannot, including within the pores and layers of dead skin cells that have already built up.
Professional extraction, performed with the right technique, is also controlled and precise; squeezing impurities at home in front of the mirror is much more likely to irritate the skin or leave marks. The aim is not to choose one or the other: your daily routine should maintain the results achieved with a professional deep cleanse.
It can happen. After extraction, some skin types develop mild redness that settles within a few hours, while congested skin may bring underlying impurities to the surface over the following days. This is usually temporary and does not necessarily mean anything has gone wrong.
We adjust the intensity of the protocol to your skin to minimise this as much as possible, and we explain how to care for it during the first few days. If you have an important event coming up, let us know when you book: we will advise you on how far in advance to schedule your session so your skin has time to look its best.
An overly aggressive cleanse can leave sensitive skin feeling worse than before, and anyone who has experienced that remembers it. That is why the session starts with an assessment, not on the treatment bed. If your skin is reactive, we adapt the technique, intensity and products; and if your skin is not in the right condition for treatment that day, we will tell you and recommend a more suitable time. Sensitive skin does not need less professional care; it needs care with more clinical judgement.
It depends on your skin type and lifestyle: oily skin exposed to city pollution does not have the same needs as dry skin. As a general guide, many skin types do well with periodic cleansing every few weeks, while having treatments too frequently can irritate the skin rather than help it. During your assessment, we recommend a frequency that makes sense for your skin.
It depends on the type of acne. If we are talking about comedones, blackheads and small blemishes caused by blocked pores, a Deep Cleansing Facial can be very helpful: it decongests the pores and may help reduce the build-up that contributes to new lesions.
If you have active inflammatory acne, with red or painful lesions, manipulating the skin may aggravate it. In that case, the appropriate first step is a medical assessment, and deep cleansing can be considered once the skin is ready.
They do not compete; they address different concerns. A Deep Cleansing Facial works on the condition of the skin — congestion, texture and radiance — and provides a good foundation for everything else. Medical aesthetic treatments address concerns that cleansing cannot reach, such as deeper skin quality, pigmentation, wrinkles and loss of firmness. If you are unsure what your skin needs, that is exactly what we clarify during your assessment.
Very little, but it matters. During the first 24 hours, it is best to leave the skin undisturbed: avoid make-up, use gentle hydration and apply sunscreen if you are going to be exposed to daylight. For the next few days, avoid exfoliants and stronger active ingredients such as retinoids, so the skin can settle after treatment. We will explain your aftercare clearly before you leave.
