Facial Mesotherapy

Microinjections of active ingredients to restore skin quality: hydration, radiance and firmness, without altering your features.

Some skin does not need changing; it needs deeper care than a cream can provide. If yours looks dull, dehydrated or less firm than before, facial mesotherapy works precisely at that level: it delivers vitamins, hyaluronic acid and other active ingredients into the layer of the skin where they can have a meaningful effect.

There are several techniques, and they do not all serve the same purpose. During your consultation, we assess your skin and explain which option is appropriate for you — and which is not.

We provide guidance based on medical expertise.

Mesoterapia Facial.

What does facial mesotherapy involve?

Facial mesotherapy involves administering superficial microinjections of active ingredients — vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid — directly into the dermis, the layer of the skin where the fibroblasts that produce collagen and elastin are found.

This is what sets it apart from any cosmetic product: a cream acts on the surface, and only a very small proportion of its active ingredients penetrates the skin. Mesotherapy delivers them where they are needed. At this depth, the skin responds differently: it becomes hydrated from within, gains radiance and, over a full course of sessions, improves in texture and firmness.

It is equally important to explain what mesotherapy does not do. It does not add volume, fill folds or correct deep wrinkles, and it cannot tighten established skin laxity. Other treatments are designed for those concerns. Part of our role during the consultation is to identify what your skin actually needs — sometimes mesotherapy, sometimes another treatment, and sometimes a phased combination.

What the session is like. It takes around twenty to thirty minutes. We cleanse the skin and apply a numbing cream; the sensation is usually described as a series of quick, superficial pinpricks and is generally very manageable.

You can return to your normal routine afterwards, with a few simple precautions during the first 24–48 hours, including sun protection and avoiding make-up, strenuous exercise and sources of heat. Small papules — slight raised areas where the product has been deposited — are common and usually disappear within one or two days. An occasional small bruise may also occur.

Is it right for you?

Facial mesotherapy is often a suitable option when your concerns sound like these:

There are also cases in which mesotherapy alone would not be enough. If your main concern is volume loss, sagging along the facial contour or wrinkles that are already visible at rest, another treatment may be more appropriate — a hyaluronic acid filler, a collagen stimulator or a carefully planned combination delivered in stages.

This is not a closed door; it is about starting where your skin needs it most. We assess this together during your consultation.

What can this treatment achieve?

The aim of mesotherapy is to help your skin function better — and for that improvement to be visible. In practice, this may result in:

Radiance and hydration from the first sessions. This is usually the quickest effect: the skin looks fresher, smoother and more supple. Many patients describe it as ‘looking well without being able to say exactly what has changed’ — which is precisely the intention.

A gradual improvement in texture and firmness. The active ingredients stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. This biological process takes time, which is why treatment is planned as a course of sessions and the result develops progressively rather than after a single appointment.

Softening of fine lines. As the skin regains hydration and density, superficial lines can become less visible. Deeper wrinkles, as explained above, require a different approach.

A result that still looks like you. Mesotherapy does not alter your features or add volume; it improves the tissue you already have. People should not notice a treatment — they should simply notice that you look well.

How long the effect lasts depends on your skin, the technique used and the number of sessions completed. After the initial course, results typically last between 4 and 9 months. To maintain the improvement, we recommend maintenance sessions tailored to each patient.

Which technique is suitable for each case?

‘Facial mesotherapy’ is not a single treatment. It is a method of delivering active ingredients to the appropriate depth, and it can involve different techniques. Choosing the right one is where medical judgement matters. These are the techniques we offer and the concerns for which we recommend them:

Facial Vitamin Injections

The classic revitalising cocktail: designed to support hydration, radiance and deeper skin nourishment. It is often the starting point when the skin looks dull but is otherwise healthy.

Microneedling

Controlled microchannels that activate the skin’s regenerative response. We recommend it when texture is the main concern, including enlarged pores, minor scarring or uneven skin.

Exosomes

Cellular signalling molecules that help guide tissue regeneration. Suitable for skin that requires a stronger regenerative stimulus.

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma obtained from your own blood: biostimulation using growth factors. It may be a suitable option for patients who prefer treatment using only autologous material.

Facial Skin Densification

When the skin has lost density and revitalisation alone is not enough, the next step is skin densification. We explain this treatment in more detail on its dedicated page.

It is completely normal not to know which of these options is right for you. That is precisely what the consultation is for.

What is the assessment like?

We begin by listening to what concerns you and what you expect from treatment: how you see your skin, how long you have noticed the changes, what you have already tried and what result you would like to achieve.

We then assess your skin to understand what is causing the changes you see — whether it is dehydration, loss of density, accumulated sun damage or a texture concern, and in which layer of the skin it is occurring. This analysis determines the appropriate technique, because each one addresses a different problem.

We then give you a medically reasoned recommendation: what is suitable for your case, what is not, and why. Sometimes the right answer is a different technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.

You leave with a clear treatment plan and quotation, and decide afterwards, without pressure.

Would you like a personalised assessment?

We guide you with medical judgment and an individualized assessment.

Frequently asked questions about facial mesotherapy

This is one of our favourite questions, because the answer is reassuring: mesotherapy cannot alter your features, even if it tried to.

It does not add volume or modify facial structures; it works on tissue quality — hydration, radiance and firmness. The visible effect is that your skin looks better, not different. What may be noticeable during the first 24–48 hours after treatment are small papules or an occasional minor bruise, both of which resolve on their own.

Radiance and hydration can be noticeable relatively quickly, often from the first sessions. Improvements in texture and firmness are gradual because they depend on your skin producing new collagen, a process that takes several weeks.

The usual plan involves several sessions at intervals. The exact number depends on the condition of your skin and the technique selected, and we confirm this during your consultation. Periodic maintenance sessions can then help preserve the result. Most importantly, you will know from day one what your plan involves and what to expect at each stage, so you are not assessing a session before its results are due to appear.

Yes, you can return to your routine after leaving the clinic. However, during the first 24–48 hours the skin may show small papules, redness or an occasional bruise, and it is advisable to avoid make-up, direct sun exposure, strenuous exercise and heat.

If you have an important date coming up, tell us during your consultation. We will schedule your sessions with enough time for your skin to look its best, rather than still being in the recovery phase.

The sensation is usually described as quick, superficial pinpricks. With numbing cream applied beforehand, most patients find it very manageable. Facial mesotherapy has a favourable safety profile when performed by an aesthetic doctor using approved medical products. The most common side effects are mild and temporary, such as small papules, redness or occasional bruising.

There are contraindications — including pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection in the treatment area, allergy to any component, certain autoimmune conditions or anticoagulant medication — which we always review in your medical history before recommending treatment.

They are different treatments and are often confused. Cross-linked hyaluronic acid used as a filler provides volume and structure and is indicated for areas such as folds, lips or cheeks.

In mesotherapy, hyaluronic acid is non-cross-linked and administered in microdeposits. It does not create volume; it hydrates and improves tissue quality. Skinboosters sit between the two — they use a somewhat longer-lasting hyaluronic acid, also without a volumising effect.

The choice depends on what is causing the change you see in the mirror: mesotherapy for skin quality, filler for volume loss, and sometimes both at different stages of a treatment plan.

They belong to the same broad family — all aim to improve tissue rather than fill it — but they act at different levels. Classic mesotherapy nourishes and revitalises the skin as a form of ongoing foundational care.

Polynucleotides go a step further by supporting repair and regeneration, and we consider them when the skin is more compromised.

Collagen stimulators work on structure, helping restore density and support when the skin has already lost them.

They do not compete with one another; they are indicated at different stages of skin ageing. During your consultation, we explain which stage applies to your skin.

It often is, for specific reasons: it does not alter facial features, the non-cross-linked product integrates into the tissue and is metabolised, it has a favourable safety profile, and the result develops gradually — giving you time to see how you feel and decide calmly whether you wish to continue.

Even so, ‘a good first treatment’ does not mean ‘the right treatment for everyone’. If your skin needs something different, starting with mesotherapy would waste both time and money. That is why the first appointment is not a treatment session, but a medical consultation.
