If you are noticing more hair loss than usual, or areas that used to look fuller are becoming visibly thinner, there may still be time to act. Hair loss can have identifiable causes — hormonal, nutritional or related to scalp circulation — and, while the follicle remains active, it may respond to treatment.
Hair mesotherapy delivers medication and nutrients directly to the area where the hair growth cycle is regulated. The starting point is always the same: understanding what is causing your hair loss before deciding how to treat it.

Hair mesotherapy involves administering superficial microinjections into the scalp. Depending on the individual case, these may contain vitamins, revitalising active ingredients or medication that acts directly on the hair follicle — the structure from which the hair grows and where its growth, weakening or shedding is determined.
It is used to address persistent hair loss, reduced hair density and progressive thinning, including androgenetic alopecia, the most common type of hair loss in both men and women.
What differentiates the treatment is not the injection technique itself, but what each microinjection contains and why. There is no single formula suitable for every type of hair loss: hair shedding caused by a nutritional deficiency is not treated in the same way as androgenetic alopecia. The formulation is therefore selected after diagnosis.
It is also important to clarify what mesotherapy cannot do. It does not create new follicles: it acts on existing hair, even when it has become fine or weakened. In areas that have been without hair for years, where the follicle is no longer active, other options are more appropriate, and we will explain this clearly during your consultation.
A session takes approximately 15–20 minutes. The injections are superficial and any discomfort is generally manageable. You can return to your normal day afterwards, following a few simple precautions that we will explain, such as temporarily spacing out topical minoxidil if you use it. Mild scalp sensitivity for one or two days is common.
In androgenetic alopecia, the main driver is a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is produced from testosterone through the action of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. In genetically predisposed individuals, DHT progressively weakens the hair follicle: each new hair grows finer and shorter until it may eventually stop growing.
Dutasteride blocks this conversion. When administered through mesotherapy, it acts in a concentrated way precisely where it is needed — around the follicle — with minimal systemic exposure. This is the key difference compared with oral treatment and one reason why patients who have not tolerated, or prefer to avoid, oral medication may consider this option.
We combine dutasteride with a complex of vitamins and nutrients so that the follicle is not only protected but also adequately nourished. The protocol — formulation, number of sessions and frequency — is established during your consultation and adjusted according to how your hair responds.
An important point: androgenetic alopecia can be slowed while hair is still present, even if it has become very fine. The earlier it is diagnosed, the more hair there is to preserve.

There are also cases in which we recommend a different approach. If hair loss is caused by an underlying medical condition — such as thyroid dysfunction, anaemia or shedding following an acute illness — the priority is to treat that cause. Mesotherapy may then be considered as supportive treatment.

The first objective is to slow the hair loss so that you are no longer losing more hair than your scalp can replace. From there, treatment aims to improve the thickness and strength of existing hair and restore the scalp conditions — including nourishment and circulation — that the follicle needs to function properly.
Results are progressive. Hair shedding often begins to stabilise during the first sessions, while improvements in density and thickness become noticeable over the following months as new growth cycles are completed. This is a treatment that requires consistency rather than offering an immediate effect: hair follows its own biological timing, and we work with it rather than against it.
At each review, we assess how your hair is responding and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.
We begin by listening to you: what you have noticed, when it started, what concerns you and what you expect from treatment.
We then assess your hair and scalp: the pattern of hair loss, the condition of the follicles and the quality of the hair in each area, together with your medical history and, when necessary, blood tests. The aim is to identify what is causing the changes you see — a hormonal factor, a deficiency, a reactive process or a combination of causes.
Based on this assessment, we give you a considered clinical recommendation: what is appropriate for your case, what we would not recommend, and why. Sometimes the answer is a different technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.

The difference lies in how the medication reaches the follicle. When taken orally, it circulates throughout the body; with mesotherapy, microdoses are deposited directly into the scalp, with minimal passage into the bloodstream.
Published studies on this technique have not identified the systemic side effects associated with oral administration. During your consultation, we will review your medical history and answer any specific questions before recommending treatment.
The injections are very superficial and generally well tolerated. Most patients describe mild pinpricks that feel more uncomfortable than painful.
The scalp may remain slightly tender to the touch for one or two days. Small temporary bumps may occasionally appear, but they resolve on their own and are usually not visible. You can return to normal activities on the same day, following the simple aftercare instructions we provide.
It depends on the diagnosis and the stage of your hair loss, so the exact number of sessions is established during your consultation.
As a general guide, the initial treatment usually consists of four to six sessions at spaced intervals. Hair shedding tends to stabilise before density improves, and visible changes develop over several months as new growth cycles are completed. We assess your progress at every session.
Hair mesotherapy with dutasteride is contraindicated during pregnancy, when trying to conceive and while breastfeeding.
It is also not the first-line option when hair loss is caused by an untreated medical condition — such as thyroid dysfunction, anaemia or a scalp disorder. In these cases, the underlying cause should be addressed first.

They are not mutually exclusive and do not compete with one another: they are two different ways of working towards the same objective. Oral medication acts throughout the body and must be taken daily, whereas mesotherapy concentrates the medication around the follicle through spaced treatment sessions.
Some patients combine both approaches, some use mesotherapy as an alternative after not tolerating oral treatment, and in other cases appropriately prescribed oral medication is sufficient.

PRP uses growth factors from your own blood to stimulate the follicle, whereas mesotherapy delivers medication and nutrients selected according to your diagnosis.
In androgenetic alopecia, dutasteride mesotherapy acts on the hormonal cause of the condition, which PRP alone does not address.
In some cases, the two treatments can complement each other. If you are unsure which option is appropriate, the consultation will determine which one best suits your situation — or whether combining them may be beneficial.
Yes. Female androgenetic alopecia is more common than is often recognised. It usually appears as diffuse loss of density or a widening parting rather than a receding hairline.
Mesotherapy may also be used for reactive hair shedding — following stress, hormonal changes or nutritional deficiencies — with the formulation adapted to the underlying cause.
One important restriction is that dutasteride is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, which we always review beforehand.
It depends on the diagnosis. In androgenetic alopecia, the hormonal cause does not disappear: without maintenance treatment, DHT begins to act on the follicle again and hair loss gradually resumes.
For this reason, once the condition has stabilised, maintenance sessions are scheduled at longer intervals — usually every three or four months.
In temporary or reactive hair shedding, however, treatment may be discontinued once the hair has recovered.
