“You look tired.” People say it kindly, even on days when you have slept well. When the under-eye skin becomes thinner and loses firmness, your eyes can look tired even when you do not feel that way.
Polynucleotides work precisely there: they help the skin regain thickness, hydration and radiance gradually by stimulating its own regenerative capacity.
Not all dark circles respond in the same way to this treatment, which is why the starting point is always a medical assessment: to understand what is causing yours and confirm whether this is the right approach for your case.

Polynucleotides are fragments of purified DNA that, when injected into the under-eye skin using microinjections, activate the tissue’s own repair mechanisms: they stimulate collagen production, improve deep hydration and help the skin regain density and elasticity. In aesthetic medicine, they are derived from salmon DNA, a source with high biological compatibility that is generally very well tolerated.
The skin around the eyes is up to five times thinner than the skin on the rest of the face. Over time — and due to factors such as genetics, sleep and sun exposure — it can lose thickness and firmness, making dark circles more visible: the area may look dull, show fine lines and develop that tired appearance that makeup can only temporarily conceal. Polynucleotides target precisely this underlying factor: skin quality.
It is also important to understand what this treatment is not. It is not a filler: it does not add volume or correct under-eye hollowing, and it does not treat fat pads or under-eye bags. Its role is more subtle: to improve the tissue from within so the area looks denser, smoother and more radiant.
The session is brief, usually around twenty minutes. We apply numbing cream to make the microinjections comfortable even in such a sensitive area. Afterwards, small papules at the injection points are common for the first few hours; they are part of the process and resolve on their own.
Treatment is usually planned as a course of several sessions — commonly one session per month for around three months, depending on the diagnosis — because regeneration is cumulative: each session builds on the process initiated by the previous one.
The term “dark circles” covers very different concerns, and that is the key to this treatment: polynucleotides can work very well in some cases and be insufficient in others, depending on what is causing yours. The useful question is not simply whether they work, but what is actually causing your dark circles.
Polynucleotides are a good option when the main issue lies in the skin itself: thin, translucent skin, fine lines under the eyes, dryness, dullness or a fragile texture that develops with age. They are also suitable when you want to improve the area without adding volume, either because your anatomy does not require it or because you prefer an approach that works with your own tissue.
If your concern is mainly a hollow tear trough — the shadow that forms between the lower eyelid and the cheek — the cause is loss of support rather than skin quality. In that case, hyaluronic acid filler is usually the more appropriate treatment, either on its own or combined with polynucleotides at different stages.
And if what bothers you is an under-eye bag caused by a prominent fat pad, a different approach may be needed, which we can assess with you during your consultation. In any of these scenarios, you will leave the assessment knowing what is most appropriate for your case and in what order; sometimes the best decision is to start elsewhere.

The change is not immediate, and that is part of its value. During the first few weeks, the skin becomes better hydrated and looks more rested; as the treatment plan progresses, regeneration becomes more visible: the under-eye skin looks denser and more even, fine lines soften and the area regains radiance. The full effect is usually seen a few weeks after completing the course because collagen remodelling takes time.
It is the kind of result you tend to notice before other people do: no one will ask what you have had done, but they may stop telling you that you look tired.
The improvement usually lasts around six to nine months, and in some patients it can extend closer to a year. Age, the skin’s starting condition and aftercare all influence how long the results last.
Polynucleotides improve the quality of the under-eye skin, but they do not eliminate a hollow tear trough or remove an under-eye bag. If that is your case, we will identify it during the assessment.

Before the skin has had time to regenerate fully, you will usually notice improvements in hydration and radiance. The deeper changes — denser skin and softer fine lines — develop throughout the treatment course and continue to consolidate in the following weeks.

Yes. Mild swelling or small papules at the injection points are common during the first few hours or days. They usually resolve spontaneously.
When the result falls short, it is often because the treatment was used for dark circles caused mainly by something else: a hollow tear trough or an under-eye bag, where improving skin quality does not address the structure creating the shadow.
That is why we use the medical assessment to identify the cause of your dark circles before recommending anything. If polynucleotides are appropriate, we will explain what improvement you can realistically expect; if another approach is likely to give you a better result, we will recommend it before starting.
They are not competing treatments; they address different problems. Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume and is the option when dark circles are mainly caused by a hollow tear trough that creates shadowing. Polynucleotides do not add volume: they improve skin quality — thickness, hydration, fine lines and dullness.
In some cases, the best approach combines both treatments, performed in separate stages and in a specific order. That is exactly what the assessment is for: identifying the cause of your dark circles and choosing the technique — or sequence of treatments — that is most appropriate.
The polynucleotides we use are derived from highly purified salmon DNA, a biocompatible material that is generally very well tolerated and has been used for years in regenerative medicine. After the session, side effects are usually mild and temporary: small papules, some redness and, occasionally, a small bruise.

Yes, and it often makes sense. Polynucleotides target fine lines just beneath the eye, where neuromodulators are not typically injected, so the two treatments can complement each other without interfering with one another.
They can also be sequenced with hyaluronic acid filler when dark circles involve both thin skin and hollowing, but only if your individual case requires it.
