Crow’s feet are different from other wrinkles: they come from one of the face’s warmest expressions. They appear when you smile, laugh or narrow your eyes in bright sunlight. No one should have to smile less to prevent them — and with the right treatment, you do not need to.
Neuromodulator treatment relaxes the outer part of the muscle surrounding the eye — the area that folds the skin — while preserving the muscles involved in your smile.

Crow’s feet are the lines that fan out from the outer corner of the eye. They are formed by the outer portion of the orbicularis oculi — the muscle surrounding the eye — whenever you smile or narrow your eyes. At first, they are only visible with movement; over time, because the skin in this area is the thinnest on the face, they may also begin to remain visible at rest.
The treatment involves applying microdoses of a neuromodulator to specific points in the outer portion of this muscle. By reducing its strength, the skin folds less when you smile and the lines appear softer. It is not a filler and does not improve skin quality directly: it only modulates the strength of the muscle that creates the folds.
What makes this area particularly delicate lies just below it: the muscles that lift the corners of the mouth when you smile run close to the treatment area. Injection points are therefore planned while observing your smile in motion, and the lower area is respected so that the lines can be softened without affecting your expression.
The session is quick and does not disrupt your routine. You should avoid rubbing the area and strenuous exercise for the first few hours. The effect develops gradually over the first few days and is fully visible at around two weeks.

There’s one important nuance to understand: when lines are caused more by skin quality—thin skin, dehydration, or sun damage—than by muscle activity, relaxing the muscle on its own won’t be enough. In those cases, the right approach may be to treat the skin, either on its own or in combination with other treatments. That’s exactly the kind of decision that’s made during your consultation.
The treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in the presence of an active infection in the area, or in certain neuromuscular conditions. We review all of this during your consultation.

We begin by listening to what concerns you and what you expect from the treatment.
We assess the area both at rest and while you smile: which part of the movement folds the skin, the quality of the eye area — including thinness, hydration and elasticity — and its relationship with the muscles involved in your smile. This explains the lines you see and determines whether treating the muscle is the right approach.
Based on this assessment, we give you a considered clinical recommendation: what is appropriate for your case, what we would not recommend, and why. Sometimes the answer is a different technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.

The muscles that lift the corners of the mouth when you smile run beneath the crow’s feet area. If the product is placed too low or too deeply, it may temporarily affect them, making the smile look different until the effect wears off.
This risk can be reduced through careful planning. That is why the injection points are selected while observing your smile in motion and the lower part of the fan-shaped area is respected. Treating crow’s feet is not simply following a standard three-point map; the pattern must be adapted to the way you smile.
This can happen when the rest of the muscle compensates for the relaxed area, causing the skin to fold somewhere it did not before. It is usually associated with doses or injection points that did not account for how the force of the expression is distributed across that individual face.
During the consultation, we assess this distribution before treatment specifically to anticipate and minimise this possibility.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Neuromodulators reduce muscle activity, but if the lines are still visible when your face is at rest, there’s also a skin component—thin skin, loss of elasticity, or sun damage—that this treatment can’t address.
In these cases, it may be advisable to improve skin quality, either alone or in combination with neuromodulation, in stages. Determining which factor is more significant in your case is precisely part of the consultation.
This area is treated routinely in aesthetic medicine and its behaviour is well understood. We use microdoses at superficial injection points while maintaining a safe distance from the orbital rim. The usual side effects are mild and temporary, such as a small bruise — slightly more common here because the skin is so thin — or redness that settles within a few days.

The effect begins to appear within a few days and settles fully at around two weeks. Around the eyes, it may last slightly less than in other areas of the upper face — often around three to four months — because this area is in almost constant motion and is treated with small doses.
Yes, “Botox” is the commonly used term. In medical practice, we refer to neuromodulation using prescription-only medicines that must always be prescribed and dosed by a doctor. In an expressive area such as the eye contour, what matters most is not the product name, but the clinical decision about where to inject — and where not to.
