In the legs, two people may point to the same area of the thigh and need completely different treatments. What looks like skin laxity may sometimes be fat; what looks like cellulite may sometimes be skin that has lost support.
That is why, before recommending Lanluma, we assess what is actually changing in your case and which areas are affected.
Here we explain how Lanluma works on the legs, when it may be appropriate and what you can expect in each area.

Lanluma is a collagen biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid, specifically developed for larger body areas.
Unlike an immediate dermal filler, its purpose is not to create volume but to stimulate a gradual response in your own tissue. After injection, poly-L-lactic acid encourages new collagen production, a process that takes weeks to develop and several months to consolidate.
This is particularly important when treating the legs. The thigh does not behave like the face: the treatment area is larger, more mobile and exposed to tension when walking, sitting or exercising. For this reason, patient selection, treatment depth, dilution and product distribution are important medical decisions.
It is also important to understand what Lanluma does not do. It does not reduce fat or thigh circumference, it does not eliminate advanced cellulite and it cannot correct severe excess skin. When there is significant hanging skin, surgery may be the more appropriate option.
The procedure is performed in the clinic using a cannula and does not require hospital admission. Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising may occur during the first few days and usually resolves on its own.
After your session, we explain how to perform the massage at home — an important step to help the product integrate evenly — and which activities to avoid for the first 48–72 hours, including intense exercise, excessive heat and sauna. Your exact aftercare plan is tailored to your case and explained before you leave.
Lanluma may be indicated when the main concern is not fat or severe excess skin, but a gradual loss of tissue quality, firmness and support, with mild to moderate skin laxity in the legs.
It may be suitable if you notice reduced firmness in the thighs after weight loss, pregnancy or hormonal changes; softer tissue on the inner thighs, sometimes with rubbing when walking; thin or wrinkled skin above the knees; or less definition between the buttocks and thighs. These are progressive changes in tissue quality rather than an isolated problem of localised fat.
Lanluma may not be the best option if your goal is to reduce fat or circumference, if you want increased volume, if there is significant excess skin with hanging tissue, or if you expect an immediate result. In these situations, a different technique — sometimes surgery — may be more appropriate. The consultation is precisely what allows us to distinguish between them, because not everything that looks like laxity should be treated in the same way.

Each area has its own expected outcome, and it is important to understand this beforehand:
Many patients first notice an improvement in how the skin feels — denser and firmer to the touch — while the visible change appears later and continues to develop over the following months. Results may last around two years, although this is only an approximate timeframe.
We listen to what concerns you and what you expect from treatment. We assess the leg by individual areas — inner thigh, front and back of the thigh, knee and gluteal-thigh transition — because each has different anatomy and responds differently. We then determine what is predominant in each area: laxity, fat, cellulite or a combination of factors.
We give you a reasoned medical recommendation: what is appropriate for your case, what is not, and why. Sometimes the answer is another technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.

No. Increasing volume is neither the aim nor the expected effect. Lanluma is used to improve tissue quality, firmness and support. During the first few days, you may notice some temporary fullness due to the reconstitution fluid, but this does not represent the final result.
It can be useful when there is reduced firmness, a feeling of soft tissue or laxity that is not severe. The inner thigh is a thin and delicate area, so it is treated with greater dilution and a careful technique. If localised fat or significant laxity with excess skin is the main issue, Lanluma will not be sufficient, and we will explain this during your consultation.
The result is not immediate because it depends on the production of new collagen. Typically, the skin first feels denser and firmer to the touch; visible changes appear later, gradually, and continue to consolidate over the following months.
Typically, one or two sessions are needed, spaced around four to eight weeks apart, although the exact number depends on the area treated, the degree of laxity and how your skin responds to the first session.
Poly-L-lactic acid has been used in medicine for decades and has a well-established safety profile. Common effects after treatment — swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising — are generally mild and temporary. Small nodules under the skin are a recognised complication, but they are uncommon and depend largely on three factors: appropriate patient selection, adapting dilution and technique to each area, and following the post-treatment massage instructions correctly.
For the first 48–72 hours, it is advisable to avoid intense exercise, excessive heat and sauna. Post-treatment massage is important: we show you how to do it at the end of the session, as it helps the product distribute evenly and is one of the key factors for a good result.
