Few treatments in aesthetic medicine have such a long clinical track record as poly-L-lactic acid. Sculptra has been used in Europe for decades, providing extensive experience of how it behaves, who is most likely to benefit and how it should be applied.
In the buttocks, its role is specific: to stimulate collagen production within your own tissue, gradually improving firmness, density and support. During your consultation, we assess whether your tissue is likely to respond well to this approach.

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible and biodegradable substance that acts as a collagen biostimulator. Once injected, it triggers a controlled biological response that activates fibroblasts and encourages the formation of new collagen within your own tissue.
Its effect is not based on simply ‘filling’ the area, but on rebuilding support from within. This process is not immediate—it develops over several weeks and months—and that is precisely its advantage: the improvement integrates with your anatomy rather than sitting on top of it.
In the buttocks, where the concern is not always a lack of volume but reduced tissue quality, this can improve firmness, skin density and overall support.
The number of sessions is not predetermined. One session may be sufficient in some cases; in others, depending on how the tissue responds, a second session may be advisable after a period of time. This decision is based on your progress.

It may not be the most suitable option if your main goal is a noticeable increase in volume, if there is significant tissue descent, or if you expect an immediate or highly visible change from the outset. This treatment does not create an abrupt overnight change. Improvement is progressive and depends on your tissue’s ability to produce collagen. Early changes may become noticeable within the first few weeks, with the result continuing to develop over the following two to three months.
We listen to what concerns you and what you expect from treatment. We then assess your tissue to determine how much of what you see is related to skin quality, deeper structural support and volume.
We then give you a medically reasoned recommendation: what is suitable for your case, what is not, and why. Sometimes the right answer is a different technique; sometimes, no treatment at all.

No. Fat-transfer surgery and implants produce a clearly visible increase in size. Sculptra addresses a different concern: tissue firmness and quality, with a subtle improvement in contour and overall appearance. They are different approaches for different goals. If your priority is volume, we will tell you during your consultation and guide you towards the option that genuinely matches your expectations.
The first step in reducing this risk is not treating patients whose tissue is unlikely to respond. If our assessment shows that you are not a suitable candidate, we will tell you before starting.
The second is explaining exactly what changes to look for and when. Sculptra does not significantly increase the size of the buttocks; the improvement lies in firmness, skin density and the way the tissue is supported.
Results are not immediate because the treatment works by stimulating your own collagen production. Initial improvements are often noticeable after two to three weeks and continue to develop progressively over the following two to three months. Mild swelling may occur during the first few days and usually subsides quickly.
Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible and biodegradable—the body naturally breaks it down over time—and its behaviour is well documented after decades of use. Common effects are mild and temporary, such as redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness. Less commonly, small nodules may develop; careful injection technique and the prescribed massage help reduce this risk. We use CE-marked products with full traceability and carry out a medical assessment in every case.
The active ingredient is the same, but the treatment is not. For the body, the dilution, injection depth, amount of product and treatment schedule differ because buttock tissue behaves differently from facial tissue. Body treatment therefore requires its own tailored plan, which we define during your consultation according to your tissue.
As a general guide, results may last around two years, depending on tissue quality, lifestyle and individual response. Because the effect is supported by your own collagen, it does not disappear suddenly; it gradually becomes less noticeable. When this happens, a lighter maintenance protocol is often sufficient to preserve the result.
